Why Process Instrumentation?

Your partner in all that is needed

Process instrumentation is the bedrock of all manufacturing and process management, without this understated range of equipment, many of our manufacturing and production processes would be unmanageable, not to mention uneconomic. Being able to understand the environment you are in and having the right tools to manage and control it consistently, gives you confidence in the process or system.

Simply put, you know what to expect. However, industrial process instrumentation can offer even more than that, if there are changes which affect the integrity of the process, immediate adaptations can be made to negate problems resulting from that change. These products can address unseen difficulties and take simple actions to reduce any potential impact. It’s the immediacy that ensures levels of safety and productivity.

Process instrumentation is designed to work in a variety of environments, therefore it needs to be robust whilst giving accurate results time and again. They also need to work with limited maintenance and longevity in mind, with all products tried and tested before being accredited for hazardous and regulated environments. The range of accreditations, such as ATEX, EXd, SIL, IS to name a few, are real indictors that these products will work where you need them most.

Post-COVID Expansion

The major functions like recording, positioning, measuring, and controlling are fuelling the growth of this market along with the levels of accuracy, repeatability, precision and security. The process control instrumentation market always looks to support areas of manufacturing and is increasing in regions where investment in industrial growth is most obvious.

Growth for industrial process instrumentation does depend on differing industry growth. In China and India there has been a significant increase in industrial activities, certainly post-COVID, therefore the growth of process instrumentation is also seen in these areas.  Water treatment plants are becoming more and more important across the globe.  Water shortages are now no longer a third world problem, they are now becoming very much a first world problem due to climate change.  Water treatment plants therefore now need to be as efficient as possible to send clean water back into water sources, helping to ensure any over product can be utilised as fertiliser for local farming communities.

Looking to the Future

With the emergence of Industry 4.0 looking to digitise multiple types of instrumentation, this will aim to make manufacturing more automated and less reliant upon manpower. However as differing types of instrumentation are set to work in conjunction with one another there is still a need to continue with less complex and robust process instruments, especially with some of the more hazardous areas or areas where safety is the primary concern.

Indeed, the more complex the process instrumentation tools are the more costly they are and the more problematic to set up.  Therefore, whilst we are working in a digital world, there are occasions where robust combined with reduced complexity gives a greater level of service. Delta Mobrey’s best-selling process instruments are the more robust and reliable types of instruments and are of excellent product quality.
