Keeping nuclear plants safe with our nuclear process instrumentation solutions
In 2020, nuclear power provided 10% of the world’s electricity needs. However, with the ever-increasing global energy demand, combined with the drive to decarbonise and replace fossil fuel generation, nuclear power is part of the energy mix as a non-carbon emitting energy source. Together with renewables and energy efficiency, nuclear can reduce carbon emissions and help achieve targets of net zero emissions by 2050.
Process Instrumentation in the Nuclear industry
Delta Mobrey is an I&C supplier to the nuclear power industry, providing customers with nuclear safety instrumentation and control solutions for over 60 years. These improvements enhance the safety, reliability, and performance of the stations while reducing operational costs. With instruments ranging from generic to bespoke, Delta Mobrey supplies throughout the entire UK Nuclear Reactor Fleet, including reactor types such as Magnox, AGR, PWR, DFR, and PFR.
As of 2022, Delta Mobrey supports over 100 nuclear reactors worldwide. This includes all existing reactors in the UK, starting with Calder Hall at the UK’s Sellafield site–the world’s first commercial reactor, which was connected to the grid all the way back in August 1956. Plus, over 60 reactors in China where each of our products is HAF604 compliant–a requirement for all nuclear components manufactured outside of China.
Our Products
Our range of solutions covers both digital and analogue safety & control systems, safety critical instrumentation, and long-term support solutions. Our product solutions are used within containment, in the nuclear island, in safety shut down applications, critical areas of process control, alarm and general process monitoring.
Unlike our standard switches, our Nuclear Switches withstand both seismic and radioactive exposure and as such must go through rigorous testing in order to meet requirements including RCC-E & IEEE Class 1E. Our Nuclear Switches range includes temperature, pressure and differential pressure such as the 300 Series (pictured).
