Essential Blowdowns

Approximately 60% of the United Kingdom has hard or very hard water.  These minerals whilst harmless for people cause problems for the industrial water tube boiler.  Impurities, mineral deposits and foam can build up and adversely affect level controls and give false readings, all of which means your boiler is not working at maximum efficiency. At worst there could be catastrophic events.

Suspended solids can accumulate in the boiler water forming a sludge which coats heating surfaces and reduces efficiencies, ultimately causing overheating and damage. However with some regular maintenance and general boiler care products your boilers can continue to run the way you intend.

Control over the solids in the water can be managed in two ways:

  • Bottom or rear-end blowdown – this is normally a manual process

Or

  • Continuous Blowdown, either manually or continuous with Automatic Total Dissolved Solids
